Ackk, I have an aunt like this. She was rolling her eyes at my claustrophobia and acting like a dick about it, so I brought up her fear of driving over bridges, like, "You know how you can't help but freak out when you're going over a bridge? That's what this was like."

And she reacted as though she were genuinely surprised, like it had never occurred to her that my irrational fear is just as legit as her irrational fear! One of the many ways she has exhibited a diminished capacity for empathy...
