Re: Career thread
On the one hand I'm making fantastic money, the best I could reasonably hope for with my level of education and level of work experience. I really deeply love my industry, and I mostly enjoy my job within it. I'll be able to retire early, if I choose, and I have 100% job security barring some sort of major illness or crippling disability. I really couldn't ask for better.
On the other hand, so long as I do this job I can't live where I choose, I can't reasonably have a stable family life, my belongings are limited to a suitcase and a storage unit, my hours vary between reasonable to no work at all for weeks on end to 120 hours per week, and because my schedule is so erratic and my life is so spartan I can't dress how I'd like or do the activities I'd like or even eat the foods I'd want to eat 99% of the time.
