Things you wish you didn't relate to so well

What tropes always hit too close to home? Which character do you wish you didn't feel so close to? What plot lines feel a little too familiar to you? A thread for those uncomfortable moments of recognition, in fiction or otherwise.

I've been watching some documentaries about cults, and even thought I was never in anything anywhere close to a cult, I'm a little uncomfortable with how familiar a lot of the rhetoric and guilt trippy feelings sound based on my childhood in a pretty standard evangelical Christian church.

I get upset when I relate too closely to Jesse Pinkman. Or, for very different reasons, Tony Stark. :P

I'm kinda taking a break from Breaking Bad because I found myself identifying too closely with Jesse. It's just too intense sometimes.

None of them and I'd trade them all to relate to someone.

Which is kind of weird since I'm not all that abnormal in real life, I can just never find a fictional character like me.

What's the closest you can think of?

I literally can't think of anyone. The ones that share traits with me are often more wrong than the ones that aren't because the things that are made into issues are the complete opposite of my life.

Jasper and Pearl in Steven Universe, albeit for very different reasons.

Bullying often hits close to home for me.

I related too much to Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy to really love her character. I see in her some of the traits I hate in myself.

for some reason that I just can't grasp I have liked and somehow identified with Littlefinger (GoT) since season one. And not like "wow, he's cool" but in a "if I were in GoT, I'd be him" sort of way. It kinda creeps me out.
