I've only seen Million Dollar Baby, and that was a long time ago - but I recall the woman being completely paralyzed, not even sure if she could really speak. I'd think she would be in a lot of pain, too. I get what you mean about the implications, especially unfortunate if it implies that if she can't be a kickass athlete what's the point of living or something, but I also think if someone physically has a terrible quality of life - pain and limited-to-no mobility - that person choosing to end their life is a good deal different than someone simply in a wheelchair or whatever.

Wasn't that also about how her entire life was her sport though? If she had lost the ability to fight for any other reason, I wager the same result.
