I'm coming at this from the other side. I can't run or jump and my legs are going to keep deteriorating until I can't walk anymore eventually. If I consider suicide, it will only be because I feel like a burden on other people. It wouldn't really be a personal choice for me free of any kind of coercion.

My problem is how to address both people like you and people like me. It's tricky to acknowledge the personal choice while keeping outside pressures from influencing the decision.

I think the main point is choice here. If I felt coerced to choose either way, it wouldn't really be a choice.

And even I'm not talking about real choices. I'm talking about the possibility of a choice that is at the moment enough to keep me more or less sane. Faced with that choice I might choose quite differently than what I'm currently imagining I might. It's just nice to have that option, just in case.

It would be nice if there were some variations in movies and in discussion. People always seem to be passionate about one point of view and it's really hard to discuss the matter of disabilities and suicide without it turning into a slapfest.
