Re: Sibling complaints

I have a sister I'm close with, but has no concept of just hanging out. If we have plans to do something, she usually complicates it so other people are involved. If we are just hanging out the two of us, she reads her phone, reads a book or sleeps. It sucks because I don't see her that much (we're in different states) and when I do, we rarely have any private conversations or do anything together. She's said the same thing but doesn't seem to want to do anything about that.

:(((

That sucks, anon. My sister and I are sort of similar; we used to hang out a lot but these days it's either just coexisting in silence or a Big Production with not a lot of in-between. I wonder if it's a changing age thing, or just that as you grow farther apart physically and socially there's less shared interest/gossip/energy?

AYRT - I'm not sure. In my sister's case I think that's just who she is, I just notice it more now that we don't see each other as much.

Maybe make some more concrete plans than just "hanging out"? I know that sounds counter intuitive, but if a family member makes such an open ended suggestion then yeah, I'm probably just going to read a book or sleep. It sounds like if you want this to happen, you're going to have to initiate it, at least at first.
