Yeah, but the sheer extravagance and elaborate methods of torture I've seen in some HTP fanart just kind of makes me go "uhhhh". As I mentioned above it's not just "let's rape him" it's "let's have elaborate rape parties and then tie him up in weird positions even though and pass him around like a party favor because we're evil like that I guess"

It's like back when I tried to read 120 Days of Sodom, all the sexual torture and abuse was so elaborate and required so many props and so much prep time it got distracting.

Maybe Hydra has a lot of free time and like to be "social"? It is a EVIL ORGANIZATION, after all. ...and the meme has PARTY in its name, so I think that kind of behaviour fits the trope.

idk, I've never read a HTP fanfiction before, but from the summaries I've read not all the fanfictions seem like the ones you're describing.
You should've seen the Master/Doctor fandom back in the days. The mind fuckery and rape was so intense and SENSELESS there. ...and it was UNTAGGED and EVERYWHERE.
Meanwhile I've seen not so many HTP fanfictions on AO3 and they were always tagged at least as noncon.
