I want to start The Get Down tonight, but that 90 minute first episode is daunting. We have got to get episode lengths back under control.

First episodes can be long. Also finales.

I'm an old fogey when it comes to tv preferences and am still in the mindset of pre-streaming tv where things had to fit into an hour (or rather 45-50 minutes). I think it's great that streaming services have allowed creators to have more freedom in pacing things, but having time boundaries has advantages. (And I loooooove Baz Luhrmann, but he is not exactly someone I would say "do whatever you want!" to, and that tendency towards excess has been mentioned in criticisms of the show.)
