Maybe it's the people I follow, but the shit I see on tumblr is mainly pissed by how they screwed over animators.

Yeah same. No one really cares about how "offensive" it is.
When the trailer came out, a handful or so of people mentioned that it looked gross and dumb and that was it. I didn't hear anything else about it untill it finally got to theaters and the the whole animation drama thing came to light.

It really doesn't have any sort of hate following or whatever like this secret is implying.
