Eh, don't ship Keith and Lance, but... they don't hate each other. It's the typical belligerent sexual tension (as opposed to foe yay). They're absolutely intended to be eventual friends. Like, I absolutely can't stand rivalslash (just personal preference), but I'm just kind of neutral on them. I can see the appeal, but I think I'm just not interested enough in either character.

Where was it implied characters were getting LIs in S2?

I'm not a fan of trans boy Pidge for my own reasons (prob because... there's only two major girls in the cast as is???). I don't understand why there aren't more trans headcanons for the boys of the cast.

I don't ship anyone though. I just want some femslash options in S2 for Allura, dammit.

when you say "typical belligerent sexual tension", are you implying that the actual show is implying it's sexual between them, or that the shippers are taking the usual "rivalry/don't like each other/maybe eventually will learn to treat each other like actual human beings" trope and making it sexual?

Lol as a trans guy I honestly think reason there aren't more trans headcanons for the other guys is probably because lots of people can't stand seeing masculine, classically attractive male characters as trans men. (Plus they don't like trans men and our problematic genitals mucking up their Cis Dick On Cis Dick pairings.) The plucky, nerdy, thin little Pidge? Oh sure, she's like every tumblr person's dream stereotype of how trans men look.

But say...trans male Shiro, who looks a little more akin to someone like trans male model Laith Ashley (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-STanWwP18hA/VhanMOJD6iI/AAAAAAAAu_k/L2oqetowxHY/s1600/trans%2Bmodel.jpg)??? Obviously those trans dudes don't exist to tumblr. They all have to be perpetually pre-hormones and pre-top surgery. (I won't even get into bottom surgery options, I just see a ton of top-surgery fetishization on tumblr.)

Also I would so be there for femmeslash options for Allura.

(Yes I'm being purposely snarky about the trans male stuff, I really, really don't care that much in the end, although I am always there to praise fics and art that break the tumblr mold regarding trans men. Seeing pictures of things like post-top surgery Captain America, as buff and hot as ever, made me smile and I sent the artist a personal note even though I don't even watch the Marvel movies.)

lol it's the latter, iirc lance is exclusively shown being into girls (it's cool to head canon him as bi but pay attention to the head part) and keith never shows explicitly romantic interest in anyone.

The writers also confirmed that the reason Lance puts on that cocky attitude and acts like he and Keith are rivals is because he actually has some self-worth issues since he's the type of person who isn't particularly good at anything (as in decent but not great). Keith is supposed to be "the most talented pilot of his generation" so Lance probably made up this imaginary rivalry with him to make himself feel like they're on the same level, but fandom interpreted it as this pigtail-pulling and "he's mean to him because he LIKES him!!!" kind of deal.

Uh. Fandoms are full of trans male headcanons right now precisely because of the "problematic" genitals. It's been a huge fetish for the last two years at least.
