03. A dearth of logic? In my yaoi? --it's more likely than you think.

14. Sure, we remember, but it's nothing to cry about it unless your life STILL sucks or something.

29. I think that would be adorable if they had.

30. Dude I love lolis, they're so amusingly insane :]

37. That is just a ridiculous ship. HOW DO YOU SHIP IT DOES HE JUST WALK AROUND WITH HIS EYES COVERED ALL THE TIME OR SOMETHING

41. THAT IS A NEW LEVEL OF WEIRD FOR ME SOMEHOW.

42. I'd have hit it then. I dunno about now.

62. Man, I agree. Some of them suck, but some of their shit is really impressive. ;w; plus the ones that come to the con I go to are almost all fucking awesome to fans, which is cool.

67. If you feel badass and learned because you watched a bunch of gay films and found them depressing and therefore wish for happy fluffy yaoi bullshit again...YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. God REAL GAYS = NOT FUCKING HAPPY GAY FLUFF ALL THE TIME, WISHING FOR FLUFFS INSTEAD OF SHIT THAT'S ACTUALLY ABOUT LIFE AS A HOMOSEXUAL DOESN'T MAKE YOU BADASS IT MAKES YOU RETARDED. Also Brokeback isn't really worth it.

67. Um...I'm gay and my life is reasonably fluffy in the sexuality department even if it's weird in others. Having it be depressing ALL THE DAMN TIME is just as annoying as constant depressing het relationship angst. Some people like to read about homosexuals who don't have homosexuality and the oppression because of it as the main focus of both their lives and the plot itself.

Perhaps I overreacted based on the fact that it's always aggravated me that the shiny, completely fake yaoi shit is what people love when they know nothing about homosexual life in general. I dunno; it struck me as shallow (and there ARE films that are realistic without being terribly depressing).

Don't get me wrong, the fake shiny yaoi is annoying (although I do occasionally indulge in it for the cute or the porn). But it's also annoying to have every film involving a male/male or female/female couple be either idiotic camp, societal commentary, or just generally fucking depressing.

I'd really rather watch a movie about someone who is X (superhero, dressmaker, pirate, etc.) but just happens to be gay and it's not a huge matter of bearing on the plot except in the actual romance department. It's a lot easier for me to enjoy and certainly it's the sort of thing I'd rather relate to. S'like having every movie featuring an interracial couple being about race issues and prejudice.

I agree...I guess for the most part we're stuck dealing in extremes as far as gay media forms go anyway.

I would love some shit where character comes before gay myself, definitely. Guh.

I think that was the secretmaker's main complaint, not that the gay media wasn't being like yaoi. Hopefully someone will turn this trend around and in twenty years we'll have some sort of gay John McClain in an action movie, but right now they're stuck in suck.

It's why I stick to fandom, mostly. People are much more likely to write The Gay without sacrificing other character traits.
