My old dog once got into the garbage can and ate over a dozen hard boiled eggs covered in glitter that were leftover from Easter.

She shit bloody, eggshell-shard-encrusted-glitter-poop for three straight days after that.

Can confirm, looks like a very bad time to glitter food.

She was fine. That dog had a cast-iron stomach. She also lived a very long, very spoiled life full of love. A little bit of bloody, eggshell-glitter-shit didn't slow her down a bit. ;)

I am possibly a terrible person for laughing a little at this story. I think the way you wrote it, though, indicated that it was not actually super detrimental to her health and more a case of a facepalmmy, why'd-you-do-that-dumbass?!? story.

(Our dogs eat grass - yeah, I don't know either - and one of them had a big piece hanging out his butt a few weeks ago. My mom pulled it out. Yuck. Not as dramatic as your story but kind of funny...he didn't even notice.)

You can get edible glitter (used in decorative cake making) so you could glitter up all the fruit you want.

I'm kind of assuming the peels were glittered and so they wouldn't actually be eating the glitter.

Speaking as someone who often deals with glitter... it gets EVERYWHERE, even if you think you've washed something thoroughly.

Granted, it would only be trace amounts at that point, but I wouldn't rule out some glitter being ingested.
