AYRT--well, it's not like there were wars about it, everybody loved the original, but the more hand porn the better. It does seem to have died down some. (I've been avoiding the phandom a bit because of the current Broadway phantom. Not as through tumblr, where most everybody is these days, approves of him (still laugh when I think of someone sending him a bag of gummy candy dicks so he could eat a bag of dicks. If you don't know the context, he was a sex offender in a way that brought the "older talented man and young girl enamored of his voice" thing a little too close to home.)

God, there was was a moment in the show where they revealed he was the next doctor and they cut to just a shot of his hand right before the reveal and he was a bit fidgety with his fingers and I almost burst into flames right then (I had been stuck in traffic trying to rush home to watch so I had my husband put the show on speaker and I watched later, so I already knew it was him).

I'm totally with you on this, OP, except for the fact that I find Capaldi's everything hot. He has very long, graceful, limber hands, eloquent hands, and he gesticulates all the time. I have gifs saved of interviews where it's all about his beautiful fingers flying up and fanning out and emphasizing his words.

So, yeah. He's made for hand porn, and being the Doctor gives him lots of opportunity to flaunt his assets.
