My understanding (and I'm still trying to figure it out) is that it's supposed to be like Reddit but without harassment and hate. I think you can also blog like LJ/DW? There are a bunch of communities that have popped up. I've never been on Reddit so I'm not sure how it compares. They're still in beta, and so far the developers have been very responsive to feedback.

They also say they're not going to be ad-based but they have a tipping process where people can tip other fans for being nice or something, but I don't think that's mandatory.

No, but I will say that I'm sick to death of the trend of naming your website/app by some cutesy made-up word that means absolutely nothing outside of context. I have no idea what Imzy could be from its name -- a social media platform? A makeup subscription service? What??

Yeah I don't mind the cutesy catchy names. It's not like you can just name your platform: MESSAGING WITH FRIENDS! or ONLINE JOURNAL! You'd run out of unique/identifiable names pretty quickly.

It's cool that they're incentivising "friendliness" from the get-go and thought of ways to foster a community. It actually feels like a mix of facebook and dreamwidth to me.

The few discussions I looked into were pretty nice, but it's still quiet and they send you emails every few days. But hey, it's still in the beta, the site needs feedback.
What it could really use is some fannish content creators.

I still have 5 invites, so if anybody wants to get in on this early and considers themselves a blogger/fannish content creator...

I like it so far, though I hope they do implement pagination because I hate for infinite scrolling.

I kind of prefer infinite scrolling. At least it's better than the one entry per page thing that some sites have going on.

I joined a few days ago after a friend invited me, and it looks like a pretty cool site, but they don't have that many communities I'm interested in, yet. I guess I could start some, though.
