I don't think anyone was particularly happy with the ending, but all the fans of all the characters that never appeared again are certainly a pretty significant contingent, I'd think.

i was never an ichiruki but they're the last group of fans you shouldn't feel sympathy for. so what if it's popular and they're vocal? there are worse things out there. like shithime.

So... they're the first group of fans I should feel sympathy for? They're the group of fans most deserving of my sympathy? Not G.R.R.M's readers? Not Rachel/Tobias shippers? Not Poussey Washington or Lexa fans? Not everyone who read Usagi Drop all the way through?
It's the fans of the pair who never expressed any romantic feelings for each other. At all.

I'm mad because I shipped Orihime with Uryu and felt like Orihime and Ichigo were really ill-suited to each other. I never liked RenjixRukia either, but my ship for Renji was pretty crackish (I shipped him with Izuru) so it's not like that was actually going to ever happen. Damn I miss the days when Bleach had actual storylines and character development, before it degenerated into plotless string o' fight land. I got so tired of it that I can't even really bring myself to find out firsthand how it ended.

I liked Ichigo/Orihime, but I also liked Uryu/Orihime. Ultimately, though, none of them had enough development to make me feel like a romantic relationship wasn't pulled out of thin air.
