Pern meant so much to me growing up, I desperately wish someone would fix it.
I even tried to reread the original trilogy recently and gave it up when I got to Brekke and F'nor's sex scene, which was much less romantic (and consensual) than I remembered.

At first I was catching interesting things I'd missed as a kid, or forgotten. It was like meeting Lessa all over again, as a grown up.
So that kind of balanced out the annoying or WTF stuff for a while. Until it didn't.

I've pretty much given up on rereading my Pern books because there's just too many things that rub me the wrong way nowadays, even considering when the books were written.

Plus I've found other books with dragons that I like better. One of many reasons Pern's kinda been just edged out of my library over the years.

I loved Pern back when I was 13-ish, but boy there's a lot about it that makes me uncomfortable now.
