YES. Alongside the obvious horrific attitudes that mindset can lead to, those people are also annoying because they tend to act like they're just so clever and so cynical and jaded and so "above" all the stuff going on in society. I just feel like going, "Oh, shut up already."

We (the Western world) already tried that, and not only was it a massive and horrible violation of human rights, it didn't fucking do ANYTHING beneficial for anyone

I was going to say the only good place for sterilisation is voluntary sterilisation (Childfree types want it but find it hard to get), but I know a family friend who has a daughter about my age who has a very severe autistic condition and regularly freaks out over her period. She would not be able to cope with pregnancy or a baby. Her mother wants to have her sterilised, to relieve her of the stress menstruation causes and prevent pregnancy, but authorities won't allow it. On top of that, said authorities want to push the daughter into a group home and have told her mother that if she got pregnant, they expect her (the mother), to take the baby. Said mother is at least in her 60s now, and it's not guaranteed any of her other children (all adults now) would be able to take a child too.

Personally I just hope the autistic daughter goes into menopause early, thus putting an end to the whole issue.

I know this may be a long shot, but have they looked into endometrial ablation? That may be an option since it isn't technically sterilization, but that can be a handy side-effect.

I'm thinking it may be an option if it's documented that her periods freak her out. Go in from that angle. No more periods would be better for her overall mental health in that scenario.

/someone who wishes that someone who is disabled, has no plans on ever having children, and would like to get everything taken out could do so since it's of her own free will.
