Right now I'm playing Diablo 3. I need to level 4 more classes to 70 for an achievement, currently sitting at 53 for one of them.

Spoilers up to S4 of Justified

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2016-08-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Damn! I did not expect the whole child rapist thing with Quarles. I was like, Oh he has had a terrible backstory to Woahhh what is he doing to that kid from Prison Break??????? It seems like a lot of shows like cutting off guy's arms. It also seems to be pretty easy to do. I really liked Quarles' theme so he will be missed for that reason.

Is Tim gay? I am getting a vibe that he is gay but maybe that is just the shipper in me? I'm just glad that it looks like Season 4 is going to have a bit more Rachel and Tim backstory. Hell, I there was an episode that had Tim by himself doing things!

Ava was going to kill Ellen May. WHAT THE FUCK! I am glad Sheriff Bobby found her but if they are going to go against Boyd, I can only assume they will lose. :(

Boyd proposing to Ava was pretty darn cute though. I still very confused by the fact that Boyd dresses like he shops from L.L. Bean. I really hope Colt dies soon. He is so annoying.

Although...where did Raylan's pregnant ex go? I feel like she should have had her baby by now.

Yeah Quarles was super creepy! It's so weird too, because he's also Buck Compton from Band of Brothers. I love Neal McDonough a lot.

I was totally convinced Tim was gay (I even made a secret about it ages ago), but at some point he makes a crack about liking Sigourney Weaver and still that just made me think he was bi. Unfortunately, there's never enough Tim or Rachel for my tastes. I still think they should get their own spin-off show.

Haha Boyd is so ridiculous, but charming like the devil. He and Ava are like the perfect criminal mastermind romance.

Winona has her baby, but I think they shelve her until S6. I could be remembering wrong though.

I've been playing Morrowind lately, after I had a fanfic idea and remembered that I never actually finished the main questline.
Oh, the memories! Oh, the terrible graphics! Oh, the cliffracers!

(I tried downloading mods, but I kept running into walls and having this not work no matter how many times I tried them, and eventually I just gave up and stuck to the vanilla game with all its faults... even though I occasionally have to restart the computer because it's frozen everything)

Rivers of London series

(Anonymous) 2016-08-27 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I picked them up at the used book store. I'd heard of them and they looked so nice in a matching set that I just bought them all.

I've just started Broken Homes today. I think Whispers Underground was my favourite. I've never read a crime/procedural series before and I'm finding it calming much the way I find Elementary calming. And they're funny too!
Before this I read a spiritually draining sci-fi novel that literally gave me nightmares, so it's been nice...

Ooooh! I've seen those books around, but never picked them up, because I'm not really into current crime fiction, even if there are some fantastical elements thrown in.

But I also find Elementary super calming. I'm like a toddler in front of those suprise egg videos, when I'm watching it. So maybe I should try the books after all. :D

What was the spiritually draining sci-fi novel?

Do it! It's a whole new genre to me and I'm enjoying it.
The blurb on the cover is "the perfect blend of CSI and Harry Potter" which I think fits, even though I don't like CSI. The main character has his own personality but is also a shameless gary stu, in a nice wish fulfillment kind of way. The way his department get called in to gruesome murders with inexplicable elements reminds me of Elementary a lot. There's a lot more focus on the bureaucracy and different administrative elements of policing, which might be the british influence. And it's very diverse. Has more queer characters too! My only caveat is that most of the tangents into London geography/demographics/history are entertaining but go entirely over my head, so I can't vouch for it's accuracy to the spirit of London.

The book I read before these was The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russel. I had a complex reaction to it (I loved some parts but was horrified by others) and a notable nightmare about having my hands mutilated.
