Libertarianism can probably be understood as a subset of liberalism.

so far to the left you're on the extreme right

politics is a flat circle

I'm not... I don't feel like that's a right-left argument? I'm kind of confused what you think I'm saying. I'm saying that libertarianism is one of the things in the broad family of the political ideology of liberalism, not that, like, all liberals are crypto-ancaps or something. I think it makes sense to consider it in the broader category of liberalism because it has pretty direct and obvious historical family roots in liberalism and because the values that it claims to uphold are more or less liberal values. But you can't conclude that the flaws of libertarianism are also the flaws of liberalism generally, any more that you could say that the flaws of Trotskyism are the flaws of leftist thought generally.

Except the libertarian turned out not to be an open minded individual at all, but a closed off psycho: ready to chain his woman to the kitchen and put gays against the wall, quite literally. I ran so fast.

Well, that guy's a real dickhead, then.

NAYRT - Oh my. Okay. I actually have friends and family who are libertarians and they are definitely not that extreme.
