Re: I think the psychiatrist I'm visiting hates me.

Try to stay calm and take it slow. Weird side effects are going to happen if you're on anti-depressants, and they should even out after a few weeks--don't necessarily jump to give up on a prescription just because you've got some side effects. Your psychiatrist doesn't hate you, he just might not be a great fit for what you need.

That said, if you don't feel like you can trust your psychiatrist, you can find a new psychiatrist. If the meds you have been prescribed aren't working for you, your doctor should work with you to find a new medication.

Above all, give it time. If this has all happened in the last 3-4 weeks, you're probably going too fast. Your body will take some time to adjust to new medication, and you will take some time to get used to any new doctor or psychiatrist. Try to be honest with your doctor, both about concerns with medication and about frustrations or questions you have about the way your treatment is being handled. It's a process, not an immediate answer.

I'd like to add a caveat. Sometimes the side effects are too powerful to safely withstand.

Case in point, they tried citalopram on me.

After four days of no sleep, they found me banging my head against the wall to try and knock myself out so I could have some form of unconsciousness.

That's why I wouldn't recommend always toughing it out. If something is REALLY going wrong, I'd rather someone stop than send themselves to the hospital.
