Basil. I cannot stand the taste of basil in foods, but it is everywhere.

You should not encounter it in Greek cooking, so maybe try that? IME, "vassiliko" is for wearing, or for sprinkling holy water in church, not for eating.

It's not in Chinese, Japanese or Indian food. It's not hard to avoid in Thai or Vietnamese food, even though it uses a different type of basil. Or most American home style cooking. Or Lebanese food. Mexican... South/Central American cuisines, Ethiopian, Senegalese...

Er, no it's not. There are plenty of cuisines and dishes that don't contain basil. Have you tried anything that's not Italian food?
