Knytt Stories

It's a little platformer with a lot of homebrew levels available. Often very atmospheric a happy and Juni, the heroine, kicks arse with a white dress and a parasol.

For browser games, I'm fond of Kingdom of Loathing. It's a humorous, stick figure-based RPG, with six classes to choose from initially, and special classes you can unlock after your first ascension, which is basically a new game plus. Which reminds me, I need to ascend soon. I've been a Seal Clubber for far too long. I think I'm going to be a Disco Bandit next, and then a Pastamancer again (aka my favorite class).

I play Zootopia Crime Files. It is a new hidden object game.

Horror recs: there are many good free RPGMaker game with very good atmosphere and easy to play. I recommend Ib, The Witch House, Mad Father, Bank Dream, Forest of Drizzling Rain and Uri's work. You can find most of it on http://vgperson.com/games/. There is also the Deep Sleep series which is three browser games about dream demons, they are surprisingly good games with great stories and atmosphere. Alice Is Dead is good too (the game not the podcast), it's about an amnesiac White Rabbit findjng out why Alice is dead. I'm not sure if it and the Deep Sleep series have main sites, you can google for a place to play them.

For non horror there is Cave Story free version, an action platformer game where you help a bunch of talking rabbits in trouble. It's a famous indie game made by a lone gay for five years, it has lots of charm and heart. There is a remade version on Steam but the original free version can be found here http://www.cavestory.org/download/cave-story.php

It's a horror-ish RPG. The story's pretty interesting iirc.

Eversion
Platformer, starts off looking bright and cheerful. It's not.
(There's an HD version on Steam with an extra ending, but the free version's fun too.)

Doom The Roguelike
Mostly because I like Doom and I like roguelikes. :P

It's a really simple browser game. BTW, that link is if you want to play, you can join as my vampire's childe. This does award me with a small bonus, but I don't care much about that, I lust like the idea of lineages. When I originally created Tier Rana, I asked on a LJ comm for a sire, because I wanted Tier to have a lineage.

These are flash games, Jewelvanche a bit tetris-y. Sugar Sugar 2 is, as the name implies, the second verion of the game. It's a bit more complex than the first.

Also, Freecell, a Windows card game that is slightly more complex than Solitaire, and FreeCiv, which is basically a freeware version of Civilization.

I'm playing Spellstone at the minute. It's a nifty little trading card game if you're interested in that kind of thing. Hearthstone is another that is also completely free.

Thomas Was Alone will always be one of my favourite little indie games. I don't think it's free but there should be a free demo if you'd like to check it out anyway.
