Ahhh....I know that website; I go there just because they have the best gallery for Utena. It's been a while since I read any of the essays, but I do recall a rather un-healthy worship of Akio (and I think that right there answers a few of your questions).

I always got the impression that the webmistress was enamored of Akio precisely because he is such a penis, anyway. I mean, hell, I'd hit it in five seconds flat. :P

But I think that redemption is a major factor in Utena--for ALL the characters. Except for Akio, cause he still didn't get it >< Saionji...I felt sorry for him at times, but then he went and screwed it up, lol.

I must be the only Utena fangirl who wouldn't touch Akio with a fifty foot pole. I just don't get the appeal.
