I have no idea what it means but apparently I'm "popular-looking". I have friends who act like I must have been popular in school, unlike them, and it never seems to sink in no matter how many times I tell them they're wrong.

I kinda get what they mean? If your bullies are popular and follows the latest trends, you start to associate that look with being a bully. And like a anon below pointed out below, once you pigeonhole people it's hard to shake off those stereotypes.

That said I hear you on friends disbelieving you because of your looks. Mine only "got it" when they saw a photo from high school where I had glasses, a boring haircut, acne, and was a bit overweight.

Except... I hadn't been bullied since elementary school, and the general consensus in high school was that I was quiet but nice. So, yeah.
