Similar thing with me. I didn't mind cats, I'd just never had much personal experience with them (outside of seeing friends' cats run around their houses). Our family had always had dogs, too.

But then my mom and I adopted a cat and she was the sweetest thing and we fell in love with her pretty darn quick and now I would be more than happy to have another cat someday :).

(Still love dogs, too, though. I'll take either one as a pet. Or both :p.)
