I think it's compatible in the hands of a really good writer. And a smart character.

Maybe not a complete pacifist, though.

Say what you will about Firefly, I did like this exchange between two of the characters:

Zoë: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killin'?
Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

And I feel like that sort of thing would work in a zombie apocalypse? Not necessarily an obligate pacifist per se, but like, a facultative pacifist.
