Weird wake-ups

(Anonymous) 2016-09-03 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
A counterpart to the "worst way to wake up" thread... what are some ways you've woken up that weren't awful per se, but creepy or weird or even funny?

My cat having a growl-off with a stray outside my bedroom window at 5am. I ran outside to save him but all he did was chase the other cat off the property, and then came back to me looking very pleased with himself.

In middle or high school, I woke up falling on the floor. I immediately cracked up laughing because of how random it was.

I also woke up from a dream where I'd woken up in someone else's house. I sort of slept walked my way to the door, opened it, and I was "back." (I have a lot of dreams like that.) Some of my New Age friends have suggested it was an OBE, but I'm pretty sure I was sleep walking and/or disoriented from waking up too fast.

My little brother used to sleepwalk a lot. He would often sleepwalk into my room and stand over my bed until I startled awake. I would then lead him back to his room.

This is creepy... I woke up feeling as though an animal had just jumped on and off my bed. The thing is that we had a dog, but it felt like something much smaller than her, and besides, my door was closed and so was my window.

I also woke up to a text message from a friend asking if I was okay. Apparently I'd called her in my sleep.

The background to this is that during fall break of my freshman year of college, I went home and discussed with my parents going on a study abroad trip, and didn't decide anything that night. The next morning, my dad wakes me up around 7 a.m., asks me "Do you have any objections to your mom and I going to France during these dates?" I mumbled if I could come with and my dad said "No, you're going on that Europe trip we talked about last night" and then just left. I legit thought I had dreamed it.

The boyfriend has had periods of sleepwalking, etc. I've woken up to see him leaned over me and staring before screaming in my face. He was still sleeping. His other girlfriend has been held down sometimes during his episodes. Those were worse.

Okay, that sounds like a horror movie setup. I'd scream back, tbh.

Once when I was a kid, we were staying with relatives while on a trip. I was having this dream that involved my little brother. I don't remember most of the dream, just that at one point I dreamt he was running and I could hear his footsteps behind me. I woke up to him jumping on the bed. He had woken up earlier and been told to go get me up. He really did run into the room and I must have incorporated the sound of his footsteps into my dream.

A ridiculously vivid and mundane dream that it was actually some five hours later than it really was. I woke up around 2 AM, stared at my alarm clock, and was so convinced by the dream that I reset the clock to what I was sure was the correct time and started getting ready for school.

Incest dreams. (Yes, plural.)

I used to fall out of bed a lot as a kid so I would often wake up just after hitting the floor, but one day I woke up with the top half of my body hanging off my bed and was confused for maybe 10 seconds before I fell out. That was the first time I'd woken up before I hit the floor.

For awhile in my pre and early teens, I had a bunk bed, and one morning I woke halfway up, slung myself out of bed thinking I was on the bottom bunk, and fell to the floor. I landed with my legs crossed tailor fashion and sitting bolt upright, but I whumped my tailbone.

Cat butt in the face. I'm sure many people can relate. Also, the sound of the cat throwing up - not in my bed (yet) but in my room.

The SO throwing up a little on me.

The SO farting like an atom bomb.

So one Saturday I woke up with my brother in front of me asking "ready to go". I was confused and asked what. Apparently the night before he asked me if i wanted to go with him to check out his college and I said yes. I was half asleep and didn't remember it.

So once I woke up with a disembodied hand in my hair and screamed bloody murder... because one arm was under my head and had fallen totally asleep so I couldn't feel that it was my hand, but I could still move it. I felt ridiculous when it clicked, but it sucked because when the pins and needles started it hurt so bad.

Oh god I've had something like this where I woke up and my arm was so asleep I could not feel it at all, but in that hazy not quite awake state I just saw it lying next to my face on the pillow, went 'that's not my arm, and there's no one else in bed with me, JFC DISEMBODIED GHOST ARM ON MY PILLOW HELP'

I used to have nightmares that were just REALLY LOUD NOISE and a sense of danger/impending doom. I think they started when I was small and messing with my parents' stereo that had huge loud speakers, and turned it on full volume. At close range they could be loud enough to hurt and would shake the whole house and I remember screaming and crying. I could usually logic myself out of panicking when I woke up from nightmares because they were obviously not real, but that one built on something that really happened.

I woke up to the sound of what I thought was my cat starting to claw my bed. No. It was our young Jack Russell pup climbing up on the bed and she got right in my face like "GOOD MORNING HUMAN I CAN CLIMB ON BEDS NOW ISN'T THAT COOL?"

The weirdest one was when I dreamed my alarm clock went off, at 4:29 am (my alarm was set for 4:30). I got out of bed, looked at the time, hit snooze, and was climbing back into bed before I realised it had to have been a dream XD
(And then my alarm actually went off a minute later.)
