Re: Embarrassing Moments

It's not horrifically embarrassing, but in class on Wednesday I had been asked a question by the professor, answered, and then started looking for something in my notes because I thought I was done. Turns out he asked a follow-up question I only half-heard. Instead of doing the normal thing and asking him to repeat it, I just ran with what I thought he said. I got this completely blank stare, and then "Okaaaay. Anyone else?"

Once in high school, a teacher called on me when I had been distracted by daydreaming for a sec. I thought she was about to ask a question, so I sat there politely and attentively looking at her with a expectant expression on my face. Only the silence went on too long and just as I wondered if I should say something, she sighed and called on someone else, who answered her. I realized she'd already asked a question when I was tuned out and then called on me after! I think she thought I was deliberately being a little shit because she seemed to dislike me after that. Fortunately this was a one-semester, team-taught health class and I never had her for a teacher again.
