Er... you know it's canon in the books, right?

Pretty sure Walt and Henry are Vietnam vets in the books, too. And Martha wasn't murdered either... So it is not unreasonable for the OP to hope and wish, just like I do, that this pairing never ever ever ever ever ever EVER becomes canon ON THE TV SHOW. I know it won't happen, but I'd love it if they got rid of Vic. From the first time I saw her on the show, I didn't like her, she is just so fucking aggravating. It'd be nice to have a subordinate female cop not trying to get into her boss's pants. Ijs

OP is entitled to OP's opinion. I am entitled to love the idea of Vic/Walt. Your icon cracks me the hell up.

I feel you. I want to like Vic, but she's a hot mess of a character.

TV/movie adaptations don't always follow the books, though. So even if it's canon in the books, OP still has a shot that it won't be in the movies.

I totally agree with you, OP. Walt could do and deserves so much better than Vic.

I like both Walt and Vic (unlike others here, it seems), but I am totally with you, OP. I hate the idea of them together. Mostly because I hate the really common trope of a younger woman getting together with her older male boss. When they started heavily hinting at a relationship I stopped watching the show, because I didn't want to deal with what I thought felt inevitable with the way they were going.

I'm with you. I love both Walt and Vic but I really disliked the idea of them together once the show started hinting at it, mainly because he seemed so fatherly toward her and then...eww! What? Oh my god, seriously? Was my reaction when I realized. Because even if she was crushing on him as a stable male influence in her life who for once wasn't abusive, no way should he allow himself to be attracted to her. Yes, you can control your attraction. Yes, you can say to yourself, this one is off limits, and stick to it, and DON'T MEET HER SEXY GLANCES and make it clear you don't see her that way until she believes you. That's the way it's done.

So disappointing.

Yes, this. That is pretty much exactly what my reaction was!

I'm fine with younger woman/older man pairings but this dynamic feels all wrong for Walt and Vic. Walt's supposedly an honorable guy - THE most honorable guy in the show. And Vic is a mess, personally and professionally. That's not to say she's a bad person, it's just that she, as a person is way too vulnerable to have a healthy relationship with, especially if she's a co-worker. I don't see Walt being that foolish OR unscrupulous as to take advantage of his position over her like that.

I don't mind older/younger pairings. But only when the characters are equal. As Walt is Vic's boss, that skews the power dynamic and I don't like that. And then, yes, factoring in that Vic is a mess makes it even worse for me.
