While I wouldn't call The Revenant gripping, I didn't think it was exactly boring either. There was plenty of wilderness porn to keep me going lol.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your issue with it?

I couldn't stand 2 1/2 hours of Leo Dicaprio making pained faces, grunting, and slowly getting more and more ridiculously hurt. I thought every other character in the movie was more interesting. The scenery was cool, but Dicaprio made the movie a chore.

Fair critique. It was all supposed to be some kind of Gladiator-like revenge destiny from the gods plot. I get it.

Didn't make it no Gladiator though.

It had Gladiator "weird dreams of my family" moments, as well. They were so out of place and just made the movie drag on more.

I didn't see this movie (saw the original in the seventies) and apparently, the true story of this guy and what he went through was pretty fucking extreme.

But - i totally understand why you'd find the movie uninteresting and boring.

Lol yep hence the comparison.

No matter how much you want to make Gladiator you just can't do it with a mute character. Those scenes were poignant in Gladiator because we understand the motivation. Here we just kinda don't care lol

"wilderness porn"

You mean trees? Yeah, I can see trees any time I want. I can get, maybe, South West Flyover and South Californian folks getting all wet and bothered over shots of trees, but for the rest of us they are not that special. Lose most of the shots of trees, replace them with actual plot and story instead.

So can I. The difference between us is I can also appreciate cinematography.
