Yeah I'd love to see Feist's Riftwar Saga adapted but I think a modern version would have to change a lot of things for the same reasons.

It's not like GRRM's Game of Thrones, where there's sexism and bigotry galore but it's made clear that the characters and the world hold these ideas and not the author, and they're presented as unequivocally bad in the story; no, Feist pretty clearly agrees with some of that shit and when heroes spout it they're presented as being correct/justified.

That would go over like a lead balloon on a modern audience, I think.

Yeeep, sounds like the same sort of situation to me. There's definitely things the heroes do that from a modern perspective are just... not going to fly.

Which is understandable, since things change, but I still enjoy the old stories, so it's sad to know they'll likely never be adapted well (if at all).
