Well, the thing is that most folk don't even know what Scientology teaches--including the members. By the time you get to the point where you realize they're batshit insane, you're sunk so much cash into the scheme that it's hard to admit you were that wrong.

Well, the thing is that most folk don't even know what Scientology teaches--including the members.
A lot of religions seem to work that way, sadly...

ETA: I meant to say that it's all indoctrination and stuff and most members don't even know what they're doing.
