Too bad. It's still the truth. Creators are not obligated in any way to provide anyone with stuff that person will like, and whinging about the lack of fic/art/whatever that caters to your particular taste comes off as entitled, judgmental bullshit.

No one should feel 'forced' to create fanworks according to a checklist, especially when it comes to diversity. I'd rather have creators from within those underrepresented groups tell their own stories than have writers or artists outside of those groups tell those types of stories because they feel obligated to do so.

Creators should produce the works that are enjoyable and honest to themselves, and then if other people enjoy those works, so be it.

Saying "I want this to exist" is a million fucking miles removed from tearing someone's door down and demanding they design exactly what you want. If you're interpreting people talking about what they like and want as a personal attack, that's on you.

Of course there are times when a critical analysis of diversity in fiction can go overboard, but that doesn't actually connect with what OP wrote.

expresses a yearning =/= whingeing entitlement

You've got an awfully big chip on your shoulder about this, but the secret says nothing about forcing creators to write fanworks.

You say this, but when a creator does step up to produce things that appeal to the whiny and entitled also get the biggest backlash from that contingent if they get the slightest detail wrong.

It's those damn Millenial SJWs

I'm not sure how this changes the fact that merely expressing a yearning for a particular kind of fic isn't whingeing entitlement, nor does the secret mention anything about forcing creators to write fanworks. You're lambasting the OP for something they haven't said, just because somewhere else, other people have said it. That makes no sense.

Fucking this. You can bitch to me all you want about seeing a certain type of fic, but it doesn't mean I'm going to write it. Actually, it'll likely deter me from writing what it is you want, depending on how annoying you are about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-06 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
This. No one owes anyone else fan works.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I do write what I want to read. But sometimes it would be nice to read someone else's words for a change, you know?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-06 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
This. Yes. If you want or need something in your fiction, you MUST make it yourself. No one else can truly give you what you need.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-06 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL what? I read books all the time that give me what I need.
