food thread

After transitioning from qdoba burritos to burrito bowls a year ago and bowls with half-rice 6 months ago, I finally took the plunge and tried a no-rice, and I don't even miss it!

Also, yesterday I made one-pan roast chicken legs and veggies that was really good.

What's your food life been like?

I had a really, really good burrito on Friday, and then last night I had this really pretty decent calf's liver with bacon and onions. Very heavy, though.

Haven't been cooking at all this weekend, though. Too lazy.

I am currently roasting a spaghetti squash. D: I hope it turns out well.

Success!

I've never had qdoba. We have Moe's (blegh) and Chipotle (owns my soul).

Well, I had some decent dim sum today. Still feel totally deprived of vegetables and like I am putting on weight as a result though.

Damn it England, stop living up to stereotypes.

At Spanish camp this week, and the food is a little too good. Everything has been amazing so far, and I'm going to have to work to make sure I don't gain weight.

I'm really happy to be back a school and able to make my own meals again (which I could when I was back at home for my summer job, but we were getting taken out to lunch almost every day at work, so...). I'm trying to obsessively plan my lunches and then wing it at dinner. This week I've got sandwiches for lunch with the veggies I got at the farmer's market and winging it has included a lot of zucchini noodles.

I've been trying to make more food from scratch. I made some rosemary chicken today and, for once, it actually came out good. It even looked like the picture in the cookbook and smelled nice. Unfortunately, my dad still complained about it.

Well then he shouldn't get any. Get him a copy of The Little Red Hen and a basic cookbook instead, and he can cook his own.

I polished off this week's sausages last night, so that's the week's chicken gone, but I'm not sure if I will go out again to the shops this week and thus be able to buy anything extra. Me and shopping is in a nervous situation right now with the hovering question of Centrelink.

Maybe I should console myself good old toasted tomato sandwiches. They're an old favourite that always works.

I've been sneaking more veggies in lately. Trying to get into habit of making a big meal to ration out over the week.
