As someone who writes, let me just say that please people, keep saying stuff you would like. If no one else is enjoying it I might as well just keep things in my head, but I suffer from thinking "No one else is talking about/writing this so I'm probably the only one who wants it." a lot. And I feel guilty asking people "So if I wrote this, would anyone else care?" Because I'm either fishing for buttpats or getting people's hopes up when 9 out of every 10 ideas I have will probably never get written.

But sometimes that "Oh yeah, I'd love a fic about X!" has been the final nudge I needed that it really is worth writing down.

I agree - sometimes it's inspiring to read that I have a potential audience.
