I think it's a matter of perspective. Black man/White women pairings used to be the default interracial pairing for a long time, so that novelty isn't new. Also, those pairings emphasize the white female character, which is hardly original. So for black women and women in color, they don't get to see themselves represented in those kinds of pairings.

Default interraial pairing, where? I don't recall a single such pairing.
