My bluetooth headphones were $70 and they've lasted nearly five years. Before that I was constantly replacing my wired ones, which ended up costing me way more.

*shrug* My iPod headphones have lasted three years and they came with. I don't use headphones much on my phone unless I'm streaming in a public place (watching a video at the airport or something) so I'm not rushing to pay $159 for something that will only work on one device and won't get used that often.

I think you're missing the point. You DON'T have to pay $159 for Bluetooth earphones unless you give a shit about having everything Apple branded. Go to eBay/Overstock/Best Buy/Target/etc. and you can pick up a good pair for like $40.

This. I managed to score a nice pair on sale for like $50, and they've lasted me almost 4 years now. I spent almost that in 2 years for cheap-ass wired ones that kept breaking every 6 months.
