No way of knowing from this distance, but Dickens always comes across to me, a Brit, as over-egging the pudding with regard to dialogue all over. Especially his "lower class" characters. Cringe-making.

But if you like the stereotype of Britain so beloved of lots of non-Brits, he might work for you.
