Earlier this year, the Tretyakov Gallery did an exchange with the UK National Portrait Gallery--26 Russian portraits from the 19th century, including Perov's one of Dostoyevsky, went to the NPG, which lent the Tretyakov a group of English portraits in return. The exhibit ran from March until June, and while it's been described as "unprecedented," that doesn't mean it couldn't be repeated.
