Any R-Rated movies you'd like to see family friendly versions of?

R-rated Disney remakes would be hilarious.

R-Rated Scooby Doo where they are trying to find a real serial killer. But with comedy. So Scooby Doo + Tucker & Dale vs. Evil + Zodiac.

I want an R rated Tolkien movie where we can actually see the battles and wounds and such.

Really, any movies that have battles with them. Star Wars gets away with it because lightsabers cauterizes wounds. But in general battles in movies aren't realistic in terms of violence and wounds and blood.

R-rated Silmarillion.

I honestly think it would have to be. I mean, Tolkien doesn't go into so much detail, but in a movie you kind of have to. And you have Maedhros, Celebrimbor, Fingon's gory death, Finrod's gory death, and so much other stuff. Even if they cram it into one movie or a trilogy, there are things that would be more graphic than LOTR that you would have to include.

That's what I was thinking of - the Silm has so many big battles, smaller battles, notable characters who die horribly, that having an R rating to allow that to be shown to best effect would be a great thing.

Exactly. In LOTR, you have characters dying via arrows or swords or fire and you have Gollum being tortured, but in an off-page scene that isn't strictly necessary. In the Simarillion you have characters cut in half, eaten by a werewolf that they were also biting, impaled on a pole and made into a flag, hung on a mountain by a wrist, jumping into fire, sacrificed in Numenor...

Who got impaled on a pole and made into a flag? I remember the other stuff, but not that one.

Pretty sure that was Celebrimbor (although I think the impaling and turning into a flag happened post-mortem? Still, yikes.)

Celebrimbor. There is some debate as to whether he was just tied to the pole or actually impaled. But either way, after being tortured for about two years after he's killed Sauron uses his body as a banner when he next battles elven forces.

An R-Rated Bambi that doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of the original novel (like Bambi and the Great Prince finding the body of the hunter) might be pretty cool. Not saying I want it to have more blood and gore or sex or anything dumb like that, just something more in line with the "nature can be harsh and brutal" themes.
