Nah, that's not what it means. Transhumanism is the idea that using technology to force the next stage of evolution is a moral imperative. Robot eyes and arms and dicks are all very nice ideas if you like sci-fi, but transhumanism as a real-world philosophy is an intellectual non-starter peddled by "futurists" who have stumbled upon a way to sound impressive and smart by using a lot of jargon and math, name-dropping famous people (scientists, engineers, and for some reason sci-fi writers) and organizations, and mixing in a little bit of Ayn Rand for that perfect Depressing Geek Rapture. It's completely ignorant of the social, medical, and infrastructural issues facing our current level of technology and its uneven spread across the world.

There's a place in this world for using technology to overcome disabilities. But even that is very expensive. I need a new hearing aid. Am I ever gonna get one? Probably not for a long while, so if this one breaks, I’m screwed, because my insurance isn’t gonna cover another one. And this is a technology that’s been around longer than I’ve been alive. It doesn’t even attach to me or anything, it literally sits on my ear. It’s smaller than my palm. And it costs thousands, for no good fucking reason. The internet is probably our greatest achievement as a species, and it only even exists because commercial interests saw an opportunity in hijacking a mishmash of government and university research networks. And there are still people who don’t have it and can’t get it. What’s that say for transhumanism?

Transhumanism is promotion of the gentrification of the human body, and I fucking hate it.
