I'm already seeing age gap wank for this series on tumblr, so I think I'm gonna stay far away from this show and its fandom. I hate getting into things, only to discover I'm into the "wrong" part of things and receive nothing but flak for it.

You can always stick to the Japanese side of the fandom, that's what I always do. Browse Twitter and Pixiv for fanart, go to AO3 for fics, pretend Tumblr doesn't exist.

I've seen the first trailer and honestly, I'll probably watch it because it looks absolutely gorgeous. Even though I'm pretty sure the fandom is going to turn into Free 2.0

Also I;ll be staying far away from the fandom or at least stay within certain circles because I'm sure it will sadly devolve into shipping discussion.

I'm super excited for this show as well. :D And seeing how the Free! fandom devolved, I'm just going to enjoy the show, enjoy the pretty fujoshi-fueled fanart and that's pretty much it. Just like I did with Free!

I think anyone worth their salt can see that this is not even a typical sports anime show. well, would be nice if you were more chill about some harmless fujoshi fodder.

this is nowhere near a Shokugeki no Souma level of "super embarrassing fanservice makes it impossible to talk about".
