I have been working overtime to get all my WIPs done. My readers are so happy. I think they think I’m excited about the next season airing soon.

The secret? I’m terrified. I’m fairly certain my huge squicky NOTP is going to become canon and if/when that happens I’m going to quietly leave fandom. I just don’t want to leave any unfinished fic behind.

It’s such a popular pairing, no one even knows it squicks me so badly. :(

I get you, and I think that's a nice thing of you to do, actually. I did something similar once, not because of a NOTP, but because I could feel myself losing interest in a fandom and getting obsessed with a new one, and suddenly was really motivated to finish all my fics so they wouldn't be left dangling once I write for something new. And people really appreciated it. So go you.

This is a nice thing to do tbh, I don't write WiP's in the first place but if I did and my fandom energy for them died out I'd find it really hard to finish them.

Agreed. That is great of you OP.
I have a few WIPs that I just lost interest in especially after I get more interested in a new fandom.
I have gone back and finished WIPs at times. It becomes particularly difficult after people write me to ask if I'm going to finish the WIP any time soon. I don't want to disappoint people. :(

Thank you for all the really nice comments. I've gotten most of them finished now, but still have a few older less popular WIPs to tackle. I worried everyone would go on with how petty I was being to let something in canon bother me that badly when a lot of fans take pride in ignoring canon they hate in fanworks.

As was suspected in an earlier comment, it's a pretty small fandom and while I'm not anywhere close to being a BNF it might be possible to figure me out if I said the fandom and NOTP so I'd rather be careful.

That's really kind of you. Do you have an exit strategy planned for the fandom? I'm assuming you don't want people to know it's because of your NOTP.

It feels a little cowardly, but I'm figuring I'm just going to stop participating and if anyone asks just say real life got busy.

I mean I won't say I haven't thought about doing a bit dramatic post about how "I'm leaving 4ever enjoy your stupid worthless pairing being canon you jerks" but while it's fun to sometimes think about, it's not something I'd ever really do.
