I like my job: my coworkers are all great, I even like most of our customers. But holy shit the corporation itself is soulless. Like, to the point that it's actually starting to make me feel uncomfortable being associated with it.

A symptom that's nearly driving me to the breaking point right now is that we're offering emailed receipts now, which of course come with a bevy of spammy emails that people don't want, and they're not stupid, so of course most of them refuse. The higher-ups are coming down hard on us over them.

Which, honestly, I could take it if was only that, but...they've turned it into a competition, I guess, and the store with the best improvement in sign-ups gets hoodies or something stupid, while our district manager gets $1000 flat-out. Like, where's the motivation? Why should I take the brunt of people's annoyance over being badgered about these things and work my ass off when I won't see a dime of it? And that smug fuck that hasn't been on the floor in years gets a thousand fucking dollars?

I'm actively not signing people up for them. I'm coaching others to not sign people up for them. Such total bullshit.
