I'm not comparing or talking about the reasons WHY those artists wrote their specific songs. My only point is that plenty of artists write not-so-thinly veiled songs about specific people (and some of them have later revealed who those songs were about), so it just strikes me odd when people make a big deal out of Swift's songs being about specific people. That's all.

As for Simon and Morrissette, well, the big thing with Simon is that a lot of people have theories as to who "You're So Vain" is about, but Simon's been tight-lipped for years. She told one person some years back and swore them to secrecy, last I heard, but the fact remains that people still wonder who she's singing about to this very day, since they know it is about a specific person.

And I did not know that about the backstory to Alanis Morrissette's songs, actually. The only thing I know about "You Oughta Know" is that she's since revealed it's about Dave Coulier from "Full House".
