This is just me, but I liked the Daily Life Ark. Because, hey, I'm not really one for fighting or ~characters powering up~ in a shounen, so it was pretty refreshing for the beginning of the series to just revolve around the characters, getting to know the characters--and it was just kind of awesome to me how... they really did kind of become a family, even if it's not stated out loud.

I fell in love with Reborn from episode one, though. *shrug* This is just me. It's one of those more meaningful things where I was going through a hard time, and could really laugh at some of the things in it. But, it's a little over the top, and not for everyone hahah.

I think the nice thing about the Daily Life arc is that, one -- it does drop a lot of character development and important but seemingly trivial details on you, so they don't have to stop and explain much once the actual plot gets going -- it just goes and never looks back.

And it makes the family's whole goal of fighting to bring back the happy days feel a lot more concrete when you've seen how everything was before the shit hit the fan. Life was zany, yeah, but not in a bad way, and the first seven volumes really are very cheerful and upbeat. So seeing them facing all this serious shit and wanting to make things go back to the way they were seems a lot more meaningful than if everything was serious and angsty from the start.

OhGod agreed. I used to hate Tsuna. HATED him because he was whiny and really no good at all ghjdgg But now I adore the kid. Hell, I used to dislike a lot of the characters TBH but by the time things get serious, it is really much more meaningful to see how they've grown♥ I think Reborn's so popular because--no, it's not perfect. I've had a friend point out that it's because you can do so much with the characters and the plot. Not to mention the fandom's so giving.

... oh Reborn. ilu.

I didn't hate Tsuna, but I definitely wasn't all that fond of him at first. Once he got to Hyper Dying Will, I found myself really liking him, and now that he's being all JESUS SAWADA in the recent chapters, I'm like FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST HERO EVER ♥. I'm a huge sucker for characters who undergo a lot of growing up in their canon -- i.e. I really like Relena from Gundam Wing, I love Sailor Moon, etc, so Tsuna was right up my alley.

You really can do a lot with what canon gives you. One of my friends once pointed out that Reborn is a really excellent series for RP, because it has both the super-dramatic stuff and the complete crack, so you've got a lot of room to go in whatever direction you feel like -- which goes for all fanworks, really, I guess (RP's what I do the most of, so it's the first one I think about). I like being able to get such a range out of the same series, because there are some fandoms I love that just feel really weird to go too far in one direction or the other with.

I... I myself don't like SUPER GAR Tsuna because... it just... isn't really the No Good Tsuna we all really kind of adore. I think the cool thing about it is that... (again, just discussing this with someone beforehand) he DOESN'T have any real ambitions, and for a JUMP main, that's... really unique. He just wants to have friends, and GDit, have fun with his friends--because it's something he's lacked until he met Reborn. And HAHAH me too. Dynamic characters ftw♥ All the characters really grew up! Especially in the Future Ark. If there's no real character development in a series or game or something, it's kinda easy to lose interest. Story and setting is important, yeah--but it's the characters that make it interesting, in the end.

It really is. Like you said, you can go with any genre, either. Especially since the characters are pretty unique, but not too complex to mess with :'D Hahah same here. I remember getting into things like Tales of the Abyss and Gurren Lagann and... they were such wonderful series I fell in love with, but never really wanna mess with, you know?

I just love that he's turned into this guy who'll jump into a fight with four Strau Moscas to save his friends, but still gets all cute and awkward and D: when he thinks he lost the good luck charm Kyoko gave him. d'awww, Tsuna, why are you so adorable, I want to bake you cookies.

The lack of ambition isn't something that I'd thought too much about before, but now that you bring it up I'm like "......YES." I think it makes him a lot easier to identify with. Not everybody really knows where they're going or even where they want to go, and...yes!
