Ramen

When you eat cheap ramen, do you do anything to make it fancier? Or do you just eat plain with just the packet of flavoring that comes with it?

I usually just dump the packet in, because when I make Ramen, I'm usually feeling too lazy/tired to do anything else.

When I'm feeling a little fancier, sometimes I put chicken or an egg in it.

I generally just eat it plain. I actually like the taste. I usually make 2-3 at a time and then drain the water because while I like the flavor pack on the noodles, I don't like drinking the broth.

I always add hot sauce and soy sauce to my ramen, and if I have them around I like adding green onions and maybe poaching an egg on top.

whooooo eats plain ramen ??? that's fucking sad

REPENT

always use butter or oil, mixed with garlic (powder or fresh, doesn't matter)

if I'm feeling fancy I add fresh basil leaves and sesame seeds
if I need protein I add bacon and raw (but fresh!) eggs

If I'm eating it, generally it is for lunch, not dinner, and I'm looking for something quick and easy. I don't even bother with the stove, I microwave it.

Maybe a poached egg?

My mother likes to put eggs in it. She says it adds protein.

I pretty much always put eggs in mine. If I'm feeling lazy I just scramble stir my eggs and swirl it into the broth. If I'm feeling fancier I'll go to the trouble of doing the egg drop style and get the nice thin noodle strings.

I only the chicken kind. And I add crushed red pepper to it. Which reminds me that I need to buy more.

I usually put lemon and hot sauce in it, but that's about it.

Haven't bought the super cheap stuff in a while, though when I did, I would add some veggies like carrots, asparagus, and scallions.

Oddly, now I use the cheap miso soup packets as a soup base and I add fish.

At the moment the noodles I buy are a ten-cake pack with no flavouring. Usually I use miso soup and stock powder to flavour it.

Two favorite ways to make ramen

1. Cook beef noodles with half the seasoning pouch in the water. Drain most (but not all) of the water, mix in rest of the seasoning, cheddar cheese, and Worcestershire sauce.

2. Break noodles and cook them (with some optional frozen veggies) drain as well as you can. Mix in seasoning packet. Pan-fry noodles (and optional veggies) in oil until crisp. While they are pan-frying, mix up some eggs and if you have it, a little milk, as if you were making scrambled eggs. Once the noodles are fairly crisp on the surface, pour eggs over them and cook.

I add crushed garlic cloves to the water at the beginning, chili sauce, handful of spinach leaves, a beaten egg stirred in at the end, and fried onions on top-- the kind you buy in a large canister at Asian groceries. It makes allllll the difference.

I mostly eat cheap ramen--actually cup noodles-- when I'm sick and congested. I'll put a clove of garlic, a knob of ginger, and a couple small pieces of celery through a garlic press and add that, a sprig of thyme, and cayenne or chipotle pepper to the boiling water.

I usually add fresh veggies and worchestershire sauce.

Sriracha or other ht sauce, and green onion if I have it around.

but I don't really eat ramen very often at all

The ramen in my new country is so different, so I'm trying to find new ways to eat it. I'm going to have to start going to the food bank again soon, though, so I'm kinda trying to avoid it until then.

In my old country, Top Ramen Creamy Chicken was my favorite. I just cook it, pour out the water until it was just under the top of the noodles, and add the flavor pack. That's still my absolute favorite. I keep trying to get the 'rents to send a care package with some packages.
