I know exactly what you mean. I managed to find a writing group where, even though we're all different ages and a few are married with kids (or have been married), we at least have that in common and are able to do those sillier, more fun things rather than it just being dull "adult" stuff all the time.

(And TBH, I feel this on LJ just as much as IRL. I don't care about Joey's soccer game or that you bought more linen, I want to hear what you thought of that movie! In more than two sentences!)

I'd be madly disappointed in myself if things like this became the highlight of my life. It works for a lot of people, but it couldn't work for me.

And yeah, my old writing friends have largely moved on to new ventures.
