They're talking about a very common movie trope. Just because they didn't mention a specific movie doesn't make it NF.

Things referencing common literary tropes or plots have been considered fandom (in the same way that things referencing broad genres like "sci fi" have been - "high school movies" are definitely a genre in themselves), and to forestall argument, that's not changing. Looks the issue you had resolved itself, though!
