Just admit the Congo was safer and generally more productive when Europeans were running it instead of native warlords.

Yet a European woman could visit it and have little fear for her safety, unlike now. You don't have to think it was good, just better than it is now. Which is pretty much native warlords running it in the same way as Leopold only without the building of institutions, transport links, and public safety.

The warlords are in large part a result of Europe totally messing up existing power dynamics and societal structures

Only in that Europe developed guns for them to use. Other than that it is a return to the status quo of Africa with native genocides re-occurring as they did pre-intervention era.

imo the over the top language like bringing up the safety of white women and "native warlords" takes it beyond that, ymmv
